Tourism Confederation of Tanzania (TCT) is the umbrella organization representing the private business sector (Sub-Sector Associations) involved in travel and tourism industry in Tanzania. It is the voice of the tourism industry. The apex body was formed in June 2000 and launched on March 23, 2001, at Courtyard Hotel by Hon. Zakia Hamdani Meghji, Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism.
TCT established a full-time Executive Office in March 2002.
TCT works to ensure that through representation at the national level, appropriate macro policies and strategies are adopted for developing and maintaining an environment in which international and domestic tourism will prosper and the business sector will be able to achieve successful growth and development while protecting Tanzania's natural and cultural heritage.
The Secretariat currently has a number of Staff headed by the Executive Secretary. The Secretariat implements decisions of the Governing Council (GC) and Executive Council (EC) under the direction and guidance of the Executive Council. Staff Members of the Secretariat are:
